About the role
- Oversee the billing department, including billing, invoicing, accounts payable and receivable and end-of-the-month reporting
- Collaborate with Clinical Managers to ensure fiscally responsible operations while implementing, monitoring and evaluating overall business functions
- Implement, monitor and evaluate the overall business functions of the service units
- Ensure compliance with all JCAHO, state and local regulatory agencies
- Participate in departmental quality improvement activities and report findings, conclusions, recommendations, plans for actions and follow-ups
- Identify opportunities for revenue enhancement and cost reduction
- Meet with key physician stakeholders to discuss growth opportunities, strategies to enhance services and other pertinent issues
- Develop a budget plan (capital, staffing and operational) according to organizational goals
- Ensure appropriate communication regarding practices, equipment or supplies which affect the cost per case and billing/coding practices
- Implement a mechanism to evaluate product requests from clinical, cost and service perspectives
- Develop and implement a mechanism for equipment acquisition, storage and maintenance on an ongoing basis
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in related field
- Three years of Materials Management experience in a related field
- Proficiency with desktop applications
- Knowledge of business administrative functions including budget development and management, cost analysis, operations analysis and project management
- Master’s degree (preferred)
- Experience in healthcare billing with a focus on Accounts Receivable (AR) and Accounts Payable (AP) facilitation (preferred)
- Strong understanding of payer and insurance processes (preferred)
- Background in financial analysis (preferred)
- Ability to perform work in a stationary position for extended periods
- Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment
- Ability to travel throughout the hospital system
- In some locations, ability to move up to 50 pounds
- Must clear testing for controlled substances and nicotine; comply with influenza prevention program (annual vaccination or approved exemption)
