About the role
- Administer appropriate assessments.
- Contribute to and participate in the development of the interdisciplinary treatment plan.
- Develop, administer and adapt programs and treatment procedures to assigned patients on the basis of assessed needs and the interdisciplinary treatment plan.
- Plan and implement treatment groups that are organized, creative and therapeutic to the group members.
- Set and maintain appropriate limits and manage disruptive behavior according to Akron General Medical Centers policies and procedures to ensure patient safety.
- Communicate with appropriate multidisciplinary staff on a timely basis, any significant issues raised during the treatment group.
- Provide patient education and instruct the patient or family in functional activities.
- Monitor and document patient comprehension and compliance with treatment.
- Document pertinent patient information in a concise and legible format and enter it into the medical record in a timely manner.
- Participate in making referrals, coordinating treatment and discharge planning in the multidisciplinary approach to patient management.
- Assume responsibility for appropriate mandatory and continuing professional education.
- Actively contribute to and support interdisciplinary professional cohesion, physical maintenance and material management of the Center for Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences.
- Screen all assigned patients for appropriateness to the partial hospitalization program.
- Complete intake evaluation and assessments on assigned patients.
- Identify appropriate problems, needs and goals of patient and develop an individualized care plan.
- Provide or direct patient care from admission through discharge.
- Plan and attend multidisciplinary conferences.
- Participate in quality assurance activities to evaluate the effectiveness of patient care.
Requirements
- Master’s Degree in Expressive Arts Therapy OR completion of accredited Expressive Arts Therapy program
- Licensed as a Professional Counselor with eligibility for the Art Therapy Credentials Board registration within 12 months of hire OR current registration to practice as an Expressive Arts Therapist in the State of Ohio
- One year of Art Therapy experience (preferred)
- EPIC experience (preferred)
