About the role

  • Work in a team delivering multidisciplinary projects at City’s Highland Creek and Humber Treatment Plants
  • Provide project management and engineering expertise for studies and during preliminary design, detailed design, construction, and post construction phases of projects
  • Work independently or in a team with a Senior Engineer/Senior Project Manager and engage engineering consultants by preparing Requests for Proposals (RFPs), evaluating proposals for compliance with the City's purchasing processes and managing, overseeing and reviewing the work of engineering consultants
  • Provide project management and engineering advice, Request for Quotations (RFQs), construction tender packages, and oversee construction
  • Follow best project management practices, and Division guidelines and manuals
  • Ensure that all required permits and approvals are secured, stakeholders are identified and consulted, projects are on schedule and expenditures are within budget and yearly cash flow estimates, and finalize contract payments and implement quality control/quality assurance for construction
  • Review technical memorandums, alternate/options assessments, engineering reports, multidisciplinary engineering design drawings and contract specifications to ensure design complies with applicable guidelines, standards, specifications and other requirements

Requirements

  • A Bachelor of Engineering degree in Civil, Chemical, Mechanical or a related engineering field
  • Considerable experience in Project Management managing consulting and construction assignments in any of the following areas: wastewater treatment, water treatment, water pumping station & reservoir, wastewater pumping station, solid waste management facility, landfills, energy from waste, complex chemical/process or other industrial plants, or other relevant projects for municipal water, wastewater, or solid waste infrastructure
  • Considerable experience in writing and presenting reports, RFPs/proposals and presentations
  • A valid Province of Ontario Class "G" Driver's Licence
  • A Professional Engineering Licence and membership in good standing with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO), or licensing as a professional engineer in good standing in another Canadian province or jurisdiction with the ability to obtain P. Eng. license with PEO will be considered an asset
  • Proficiency using general computer software (e.g. Microsoft Office).
