About the role

  • Lead the delivery of complex planning issues related to transit projects
  • Analyze recommendations for City Planning Division and City Council
  • Represent the City Planning Division in various community meetings
  • Develop creative solutions for planning challenges
  • Engage the public and stakeholders in the planning process
  • Oversee consultants to ensure timely project completion
  • Mentor other planners and contribute to a progressive culture

Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in planning or related discipline
  • Extensive experience in planning approval processes for large scale development projects
  • Experience leading complex planning projects
  • Community engagement and consultation experience
  • Knowledge of the Planning Act and the City's Official Plan
  • Strong analytical, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Project management skills
  • Ability to lead assignments requiring critical judgment
  • Proficiency in computer software (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to travel to work sites across the City
