About the role
- You are responsible for managing the Corporate Security Branch, providing operational leadership, governance, and accountability for the integrated delivery of corporate-wide physical security services across approximately 600 City facilities and the employees who work in them.
- Reporting to the Director, Public Safety Service, you provide operational, risk, and subject-matter input into the Director’s strategic planning process and are accountable for implementing the approved strategic plan through Branch-level operational planning, prioritization, and performance management.
- You exercise delegated authority for people management, financial stewardship, operational decision-making, and risk management, including responsibility for operational incident escalation and briefing, cross-program integration, partner management below the executive level, and internal governance, audits, and compliance.
- You operate in an environment of high consequence-of-error, where decisions may expose the Corporation to significant legal, financial, operational, and reputational risk, requiring sound judgment, discretion, and timely escalation.
Requirements
- Completion of a four (4) year university degree in Public Safety, Security Management, Civil Engineering, Criminology/Criminal Justice, Business Administration, Public Administration or other related field.
- Minimum of eight (8) years of progressively responsible experience in corporate or enterprise security, including Branch or portfolio-level accountability, including a minimum of five (5) years of experience managing high-performance multidisciplinary teams, financial resources and operational risk.
- Demonstrated experience providing input into organizational strategic planning and leading the implementation of approved strategic and operational plans.
- Specialized security training including: CPTED (Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design) or Business Continuity Planning (BCP) is considered an asset.
- Security/Protection certification is desirable (e.g. Certified Protection Professional (CPP) with ASIS, Certified Security Project Manager (CSPM) with SIA).
- Canadian Risk Management (CRM) designation is desirable.
