About the role
- Research, analyze, and prepare coverage positions, communications, and strategies.
- Assess complex claims, including liability and damage evaluation.
- Assign cases to outside counsel and evaluate their performance on claims-related litigation.
- Develop, prepare, and implement Claims Litigation strategy, including affecting settlements/reserves within prescribed limits.
- Collaborate with Product teams regarding development and implementation of policy terms.
- Work toward the resolution of complex claims files and attend arbitrations, mediations or trials as necessary.
- Ensure compliance of claims handling pursuant to all state, legal, statutory, and regulatory bodies.
Requirements
- LLM (Master of Law) or JD (Juris Doctorate) and current attorney license required
- Generally, a minimum of 6 years of legal or claims experience
- Demonstrates strong analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrates knowledge of insurance policies, coverage, and claims handling procedures
- Maintains knowledge of industry laws and regulations
- Proven ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
