About the role

  • Research, analyze, and prepare coverage positions, communications, and strategies.
  • Assess complex claims, including liability and damage evaluation.
  • Assign cases to outside counsel and evaluate their performance on claims-related litigation.
  • Develop, prepare, and implement Claims Litigation strategy, including affecting settlements/reserves within prescribed limits.
  • Collaborate with Product teams regarding development and implementation of policy terms.
  • Work toward the resolution of complex claims files and attend arbitrations, mediations or trials as necessary.
  • Ensure compliance of claims handling pursuant to all state, legal, statutory, and regulatory bodies.

Requirements

  • LLM (Master of Law) or JD (Juris Doctorate) and current attorney license required
  • Generally, a minimum of 6 years of legal or claims experience
  • Demonstrates strong analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrates knowledge of insurance policies, coverage, and claims handling procedures
  • Maintains knowledge of industry laws and regulations
  • Proven ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
