About the role

  • Reporting to the Academic Administration Manager, Nursing, the Administrative Assistant - Nursing (AA), provides confidential administrative support to the Dean of Nursing, and the Academic Administration Manager by proactively conducting day to day administrative tasks as well as supporting the coordination of short and long term projects
  • Key responsibilities include coordinating meetings, managing the calendar schedule for the Dean, Nursing, aid in communication flow, preparing agendas, taking minutes and preparing associated sensitive materials, preparing correspondence, and serves as administrative backup during collective bargaining
  • Under the direction of the Academic Administrative Manager of Nursing, the AA provides backup support related to the Faculty appointment process, researches and compiles statistical information, and other confidential materials for the Dean

Requirements

  • Must have a minimum two (2) year Diploma or two year Associate Degree from a recognized post secondary institution
  • Courses in labor relations, negotiations, personnel practices and conflict resolution, bookkeeping or accounting would be an asset
  • Must have over five (5) years of recent related experience in progressively responsible administrative positions in a unionized environment
  • Experience in a Post-secondary Educational institution, where there are the usual fiscal constraints on public organizations is required
  • Experience providing administrative support to a Senior Academic position
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
  • Experience with minute taking and have basic knowledge of Roberts Rules of Order
  • A high level of knowledge and superior competence in using MS Office applications at the advanced level, especially in a networked environment
