About the role
- Provide executive leadership to the Department
- Lead, mentor and coach the Finance Department, fostering a culture of accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement
- Provide financial insights to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Board of Directors to support decision-making
- Serve as the primary financial liaison to the Finance and Audit Committee (FAC) and the Board of Directors
- Own the design and implementation of internal financial controls to protect assets, ensure the integrity of financial reporting, and maintain compliance with statutory requirements
- Own the forecasting and budgeting process to ensure alignment with the College’s strategic priorities and ongoing financial stability
- Lead the annual audit process and take ownership of implementing corrective recommendations and presenting outcomes to the FAC
- Direct the accurate preparation, review, and filing of statutory reports in accordance with all applicable legal and regulatory requirements
- Own the design, development, implementation, and monitoring of accounting systems and controls
Requirements
- University degree (Bachelor’s) with a focus in Accounting or Finance
- Accounting designation
- Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation in Canada
- 10+ years of progressive experience in finance and audit, including experience working in a regulatory environment and/or a member-based professional association
