About the role

  • Responsible for data entry within the CM trauma registry and the CM burn registry in compliance with the NTDB and ABA inclusion criteria to identify trauma and burn patients
  • Responsible for all data entered into the burn registry and clinical oversite of complex trauma cases requiring entry into the trauma registry
  • Work closely with all members of the trauma, burn, and injury prevention teams to ensure that data entered is valid and easily accessible for PI, QI, research, programming, etc.
  • Responsible for ABA report submission and ABA burn center verification registry requirements
  • Demonstrate knowledge of data analysis and quality improvement in performance of duties
  • Responsible for ICD, PCS, and AIS coding for all CM trauma and burn charts for accurate injury severity score, diagnosis, procedures, mechanisms of injury codes, etc. while employing all regulations and guidelines set forth by the ACS and ABA
  • Collects appropriate patient records for data entry into the registry for multiple resources
  • Maintains the CM trauma and burn registry
  • Abstracts all pertinent/relevant patient injury data
  • Participates and assists the trauma and burn programs as well as the organization in performance improvement and patient safety initiatives

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree Required (with BSN completion within 5 years of hire date)
  • 3-5 years experience
  • Experience working in a Trauma Registry or in a Data Coord role preferred
  • Bachelor's Degree Preferred, or 3-5 years experience
  • One of the following: Licensed RN - MO, Registered Nurse Multistate License Missouri required upon hire
  • One of the following: Licensed RN - Kansas, Registered Nurse Multistate License Kansas required upon hire
  • RN Compact license for all states besides KS and MO
  • Successful completion of the American Trauma Society - Trauma Registry Course required within 180 days of hire
  • Association for the Advancement of Automotive Medicine Abbreviated Injury Scale Specialist required within 180 days of hire
