About the role
- Organizes, and directs all assigned resources, including people, equipment, and supplies that support the provision of care
- Assists the Manager to ensure smooth function of the department
- Maintains excellent working knowledge of all respiratory care policies and procedures and works in a collaborative and multidisciplinary environment
- Provides overall coordination and delivery of illness management and health promotion for patients and families in assigned area(s) e.g., Critical Care ICN, PICU and ED areas, UCC, medical/surgical units, and/or Outpatient Clinics
- Establishes respiratory processes using scientific principles to provide safe, high quality, comprehensive, and age appropriate respiratory care
- Provides educational development, student experiential rotations, research, quality improvement and assurance
- Acts as a liaison with medical staff and all other hospital personnel
- Communicates effectively and works collaboratively with other Clinical Supervisors as well as the multidisciplinary team
- Coordinates PTO/vacation with night shift clinical supervisor to ensure consistent leadership presence
Requirements
- Associate's Degree Required and 3-5 years experience
- or Bachelor's Degree Preferred and required within 2 years of start date and 3-5 years experience
- Does not include time spent on clinical rotations as a student.
- Licensed Respiratory Therapist MO
- Licensed Respiratory Therapist KS
- Registered Respiratory Therapist
- Certified Neonatal Pediatric Respiratory Therapist (Employees must obtain Certified Neonatal Pediatric Respiratory Therapist or equivalent within 180 days)
- RRT Registered Respiratory Therapist
- PALS, NRP & BLS are required upon hire
- Seasonal influenza vaccine is a condition of employment
- New employees must be willing to be vaccinated if found non-immune to MMR and varicella and/or without evidence of Tdap since 2005
- A personal interview, formal education and training, previous work experience, references and a criminal background investigation are factors used to select candidates
- A drug screen will be performed upon hire
