Accounting Manager

• Reviewing and approving journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations prepared by the accounting team including complex areas such as investments; and investigating discrepancies and communicating issues as they arise in a timely manner
• Partnering with Revenue Operations and working cross-functionally with departments to ensure Revenue, including Pledges, are recorded in compliance with GAAP
• Assisting in the timely management of the month-end consolidated financial close process by keeping team priorities on track and assisting staff
• Continually developing, expanding, and improving month-end close and financial reporting procedures and timelines
• Reviewing, approving, and or processing financial transactions as needed
• Researching and supporting the VP, Controller in the implementation of new accounting standards
• Assisting in the creation of new processes and implementation of new systems and simplifying existing processes
• Supporting the management of the year-end consolidated financial statement audit, tax return preparation, and regulatory filings
• Ensuring the timely annual filing of state fundraising registrations
• Supporting the management of special projects, general ledger implementation, internal controls, and ad hoc analyses
• Supervising and mentoring accounting and senior accounting associates
