About the role
- Set the overall marketing and audience distribution strategy for Elections, balancing near-term performance goals with long-term brand building.
- Serve as a strategic partner to the GM of Elections and the broader Elections leadership team.
- Drive voters in target cities to view their ballots through a balanced mix of paid, organic, and partnership channels.
- Reduce customer acquisition cost (CAC) through performance optimization and close collaboration with Growth Product.
- Own and optimize a paid media budget, including performance tracking, optimization, reporting, and continuous learning.
- Manage an external ad agency, providing clear direction on creative, targeting, testing, and execution across channels such as Meta, YouTube, Reddit, and others.
- Partner closely with FP&A to ensure responsible spend, accurate forecasting, and clear impact measurement.
- Define and execute a clear brand vision and strategy for Elections, building momentum toward the 2028 presidential cycle and beyond.
- Lead the development and stewardship of the Elections brand, partnering with Product to ensure voice, tone, and narrative reflect trust, clarity, and nonpartisan integrity.
- Translate complex civic information into clear, compelling messaging that resonates with diverse voter audiences.
- Player/Coach: Manage a small team of ICs (with plans to grow after 2026), filling in on execution where needed.
- Create clarity, focus, and momentum during high-intensity election cycles and provide stability during quieter post-election periods.
- Help design and scale the future Elections marketing organization as scope and impact expand.
- Build strong operating relationships across Product, Engineering, and Finance to enable fast, aligned execution.
- Partner with Product squads to optimize landing pages, onboarding, and voter journeys.
- Collaborate with Finance on budget management and with Legal and Policy partners to ensure compliance, integrity, and trust.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in relevant marketing, growth, or audience development roles.
- Background in political campaigns, political consulting, civic organizations, or mission-driven technology companies.
- Significant experience in political campaigns, political consulting, or adjacent civic organizations, ideally at the campaign manager, deputy, or consultancy leadership level.
- Proven ability to own and scale marketing strategy in high-stakes, public-facing environments where trust, credibility, and clarity matter.
- Strong track record managing large paid media budgets and agency relationships, with hands-on experience in performance optimization and accountability.
- Experience building or stewarding brands in high-stakes, public-facing environments.
- Experience operating in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments, with comfort balancing hands-on execution and strategic leadership.
- A startup mentality: resourceful, data-informed, adaptable, and willing to roll up sleeves when team capacity is limited.
- Familiarity with the cyclical nature of elections, including intense pre-election periods followed by quieter phases.
- A deep commitment to nonpartisan civic engagement.
