About the role
- Design, develop, and maintain certified, analytics-ready data models and BI assets, partnering with one or more assigned data domains across BambooHR.
- Build and support interactive dashboards, reports, and data visualizations using BI tools ensuring insights are accessible and actionable for business partners.
- Analyze complex datasets to uncover trends, patterns, and insights that inform operational and strategic decision-making.
- Partner closely with stakeholders across Product, Technology, Customer Success, Finance, Marketing, and Sales to understand reporting needs and translate them into effective BI solutions.
- Elicit, document, and refine clear business requirements, translating business questions into well-scoped technical specifications and analytical deliverables.
- Contribute to data quality, governance, and certification efforts to ensure BI assets are accurate, consistent, and trusted across the organization.
- Leverage emerging AI-enabled features within BI and analytics tools to improve efficiency, scalability, and insight generation where appropriate.
- Maintain a strong understanding of BI tools, data modeling practices, and analytics trends, continuously improving technical and analytical skill sets.
Requirements
- 2–3+ years of relevant/progressive experience in Business Intelligence, Data Analytics, Analytics Engineering, or a related field (less experience required if paired with a relevant Master’s degree).
- Willingness to learn and continuously improve, while being a good team player
- Strong SQL development skills with the ability to build readable, auditable, and scalable data models.
- Solid proficiency with data visualization and BI tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Sigma, Omni), with the ability to tailor outputs for both technical and non-technical audiences; Power BI experience strongly preferred & primary platform used at BambooHR.
- Working knowledge of data transformation and analytics workflows, with the ability to partner with business stakeholders and own BI deliverables from intake through delivery
- Proven ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions and deliver high-quality, actionable analytics.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and clearly communicate insights.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and collaboration skills, enabling effective partnership with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- A proactive, ownership-oriented mindset with a focus on delivering results and continuously improving BI practices.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Analytics, Data or Decision Science, Finance, Computer Science, or a related quantitative discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
