About the role
- Develop a profound understanding of the challenges and opportunities in the Payroll Tax domain through research and regular interaction with customers and internal stakeholders.
- Clearly define and frame the opportunities in this space and deliver a clear strategic vision that turns an inherently complex and esoteric story into a compelling narrative for your team, stakeholders, and executive leadership.
- Utilize the strategic vision and input from other sources to develop a clear plan to prioritize opportunities for improvement and consistently deliver high-value solutions aimed at improving user behavior and outcomes for our internal payroll services teams and BambooHR.
- Build strong relationships of trust with key business stakeholders that own the teams impacted by your work while continuously maintaining alignment around strategy, roadmap, and execution prioritization for all efforts.
- Possess the ability to comprehend and communicate technical requirements effectively. Transform these requirements into actionable specifications for your engineering team.
- Define solution scopes to their most compact and coherent state, allowing for early customer deployment.
- Regularly assess the effectiveness of your solutions through quantitative and qualitative measures to ensure they successfully address the identified challenges.
- Own and maintain the quality of the product areas your team is responsible for; deliver world-class software in every release.
- Inspire and lead a team of dedicated, intelligent professionals to achieve their career best, fostering a culture of excellence.
Requirements
- 4+ years experience as a product manager, with a proven track record of shipping impactful products
- Experience as a product manager in at least one of the following industries: Payroll, Fintech, Accounting, Payroll Tax, or Payments. Experience with Federal and State Tax requirements is a plus.
- Demonstrable experience leading a team.
- Ideally, you have a strong design background, as it’s essential you’re able to think deeply about product design decisions and have an understanding of how to create simple user interfaces.
- You can clearly communicate product decisions and the rationale behind them. You’re comfortable making decisions without consensus. You can help others make decisions through influence..
- You have deep experience working with qualitative customer insights, and quantitative customer data to inform decisions.
- You’re entrepreneurial; you don’t need direction; you're self-driven.
- You’re organized, not ad hoc.
- You’re able to switch between thinking creatively and analytically easily.
- You can find excitement in delivering internal solutions that truly change the lives of the people who use them (we’re doing some really cool stuff!).
- You’ve integrated AI into your processes to act as a co-pilot or co-worker; bonus if you’ve had the opportunity to leverage AI in product solutions you’ve delivered.
