About the role

  • **Job Summary**
  • Mila is seeking a versatile and rigorous Advisor for Community and Internal Communications. This individual must possess exceptional interpersonal and writing skills to drive the execution of Mila’s community and internal communication strategies. The advisor will be key to enhancing the visibility of our initiatives among our most important audiences and will be responsible for developing strategic content for our platforms, as well as organizing events and other community-convening strategies to drive engagement.

  • **Strategy and Representation**
  • Represent the communications team at committee meetings to ensure a collegial approach and proactive collection of strategic information.
  • Be the go-to resource within the Marketing and Communications team for ideation, creative solution finding, and strategy definition for community opportunities and challenges.
  • Act as an ambassador by maintaining a constant relational link and relaying information (including presentations) between committees, the community, and decision-makers.
  • Contribute to the positioning, tone, and targeted communication strategies for the communities, including segmentation and the development of specific campaigns that address identified needs.
  • Act as the primary resource person for the student community (Lab Reps).
  • Nurture relationships with professors, staff and students to foster a trust-based environment for constructive, effective community-wide collaboration and goodwill
  • **Engagement**
  • Gauge the "health" of relationships with the community (active listening) and provide feedback to the Marketing team for a holistic vision and avenues for improvement.
  • Coordinate and animate, as needed, certain activities and events intended for the community.
  • Organize proactive planning meetings and gather strategic information from the community to ensure key messages are well understood and disseminated.
  • Ensure the internal dissemination of important external communications and propose reactive communication solutions to address expressed needs, misses and or frustrations.
  • Formulate recommendations to align messages with communication channels (mediums) and ensure communication objectives for these stakeholders are met.
  • Guide, feed, and support Mila's experts by providing them with communication best practices.

  • **Required Qualifications**
  • Bachelor's degree in communication, journalism, marketing, social-work, psychology, industrial relations or a related field or a relevant mix of experiences
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, high-judgment and integrity with a proven ability to inspire trust
  • Radical collaboration mindset, prioritizing collective impact over personal gain.
  • Deeply people-motivated that derives a real sense of accomplishment in helping others achieve their goals.
  • A recognized writing style for its ability to tell stories and move audiences
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in communication, with strong expertise in writing.
  • Perfectly bilingual, due to interactions with our internal and external stakeholders or members of our English-speaking academic community.
  • Ability to adapt your writing style to various audiences (academic, industrial, employees) and to different formats or platforms (news articles, project pages, social networks, newsletters, internal communications, etc.).
  • Curiosity and autonomy
  • Experience with a web content management systems (asset).
