About the role
- Negotiate a variety of technology and commercial agreements (partnership agreements, research and development agreements, agreements related to intellectual property and data, commercial leases, various service contracts, tenders/requests for proposals, and others);
- Support the organization on data governance and privacy matters, and assist the Legal Counsel in drafting privacy impact assessments;
- Act as a legal advisor to Mila’s internal teams on various legal issues related to the organization’s activities and projects, notably technology-related legal matters;
- In collaboration with the Coordinator, Legal and Corporate Affairs, create and update working tools, standard contract templates, guides, and checklists;
- Conduct legal research and draft opinions on ad hoc legal questions, and perform legislative and case law monitoring.
Requirements
- Law degree and member of the Barreau du Québec (Quebec Bar);
- Excellent organizational, communication, and drafting skills;
- A positive, solution-oriented attitude;
- Strong interpersonal skills and a good team spirit;
- Comfortable working in a complex organization involving multiple stakeholders, and able to work with ambiguity;
- Bilingual in French and English due to interactions with Anglophone partners, stakeholders, or members of our academic community.
