About the role

  • Provide direct and indirect supervision to subordinate managers and employees across multiple functions or departments
  • Long-term planning, objective setting, policy formation, interpretation and management for site operations
  • Accountable for projects or programs on a multi-national or global basis and overall site P&L or operational accountability for global business units
  • Define measurement strategy to support operational needs and strategic growth initiatives
  • Establish targets based on continuous improvement and benchmarking to achieve industry-leading performance
  • Establish and manage measurement gathering and reporting processes; organize and chair performance reviews with executive team
  • Log and track corrective actions and conduct special studies and analysis to support senior management decisions
  • Work with Operating Units to find optimum solutions for assets, resources and operational strategies (e.g., equipment AVL, resources demographics)
  • Develop operational solutions to support Business Development strategies and anticipate requirements for new market initiatives
  • Study, recommend and implement Manufacturing Execution Systems (e.g., SFC, SFR) to support Operating Units
  • Act as liaison between Corporate and sites/regions; develop and maintain global databases for sharing information
  • Assign objectives, review performance, approve compensation, and coach managers for improved performance
  • Regularly interact with executives and major customers; may represent the organization in public venues

Requirements

  • 12+ years of relevant experience
  • Bachelor's degree in related field or consideration of an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • In-depth knowledge of Operations, manufacturing, the production process and the tools and equipment used in the process
  • Extensive experience in World Class Manufacturing/Lean implementation
  • Excellent analytical, negotiation and problem resolution skills
  • Ability to establish manufacturing goals and coordinate a wide variety of resources to meet quality and quantity metrics
  • Good understanding of interaction between Operations and all other functions in the company
  • Ability to evaluate, prioritize and problem solve a variety of tasks to ensure timely and accurate completion
  • Strong communication and presentation skills; ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers and senior management
  • Ability to effectively lead, manage, train and motivate a diverse group of employees
  • Ability to work effectively cross functionally and with other sites
  • Occasional overnight travel required
