About the role

  • Manage a small and growing team of highly-skilled, experienced builders
  • Stay hands-on with code—React, TypeScript, Python, Terraform—while guiding architectural decisions and reviewing PRs
  • Build and refine delivery practices that keep the team moving efficiently without unnecessary process
  • Partner with Product and Design to translate vision into technical solutions, making thoughtful tradeoffs along the way
  • Oversee our AWS infrastructure and data architecture, ensuring we're building for scale and reliability
  • Remove obstacles, clarify priorities, and maintain momentum across development cycles
  • Communicate technical decisions clearly to both engineering peers and business stakeholders

Requirements

  • 3+ years leading engineering teams with a track record of developing people and shipping quality software
  • Production experience with a broad array of AWS services(RDS, S3, Lambda, API Gateway, Glue, Athena, EventBridge, CloudWatch)
  • Comfort writing and reviewing React/TypeScript frontends and Python backends
  • Experience with infrastructure as code (Terraform preferred)
  • Understanding of data architecture—lakes, warehouses, streaming, batch processing
  • Familiarity with modern deployment practices: CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, observability
  • Ability to balance competing concerns—speed vs. quality, features vs. tech debt, ideal vs. pragmatic
  • Clear communication skills in writing and conversation
  • Comfort navigating ambiguity and creating structure where it's needed
