  • Facilitates effective communication between individuals experiencing language barriers and organizations, agencies, or service providers.
  • Ensures accurate and culturally sensitive interpretation of spoken or signed language in a variety of settings.
  • Adheres to professional ethics and confidentiality standards while contributing to equitable access to resources.

Requirements

  • High School/BA Degree or equivalent
  • Medical Interpreting Training School
  • Foreign Service Institute Certification
  • Commission for Healthcare Interpreters
  • 40/60hr medical training
  • Experience with State Department, refugees, FDA, Health & Human services, Medical, Legal, Housing Authority etc.
  • Must be able to pass a background check
  • Must possess problem-solving skills
  • Exceptional communication skills, both oral and written
  • Ability to respond effectively to customers with a sense of urgency.
  • Proficient in Microsoft and Adobe toolsets, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Acrobat, etc.
  • Highly motivated with the ability to handle and manage multiple tasks at any one time.
  • Ability to forge new relationships, individual and teaming in nature.
  • Must be a Self-starter, that can work independently and as part of a team.
