About the role
- Provide direct support to Caterpillar Motoren (CM) product customers, either through direct contact or the CM parts and service distributor network.
- Offer hands-on field support during the mechanical commissioning of CM products and Balance of Plant (BOP) equipment.
- Execute InSitu machining and perform other engine-related service tasks, demonstrating expert field knowledge.
- Document technical reports for commissioning and other field service activities in a clear and detailed manner.
- Coordinate day-to-day field service activities, collaborating with dealers, field personnel, suppliers, and other departments.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and electronic engine issues, providing guidance on corrective actions and expediting repairs.
- Organize and manage engine repairs, overhauls, and major repairs in collaboration with technical teams, subcontractors, and dealers.
- Assess engine damage, including major issues, and determine the best course of action.
- Conduct material tests, such as Non-Destructive Testing (NDT), when necessary.
- Participate in ongoing service-related training to expand knowledge and skills.
- Advise customers on planned maintenance and overhauling, ensuring alignment with MaK’s maintenance guidelines.
- Promote and utilize service exchange programs to support ongoing operation
Requirements
- Must be authorized to operate a company vehicle
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Have a clean driving record, which generally means: No more than (2) moving violations within the last 12 months.
- No more than three (3) moving violations in the past three (3) years.
- A background in industrial mechanics, engine mechanics, or mechatronics.
- Experience or knowledge of Caterpillar Motoren / MaK engines and products, or comparable engines.
- Experience with In Situ machining (e.g., crankshaft grinding, block repairs) or a willingness to learn.
- Experience with nondestructive testing methods (e.g., dye penetrant and MPI) or an eagerness to acquire this skill.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, both internally and externally.
- Availability for worldwide travel up to 70-80%.
- A high degree of self-organization and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- At least 2-4 years of service experience with large diesel, gas, or dual-fuel engines.
- An additional qualification as an electrician for specific tasks, with the option to complete training if not already qualified.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Teams, Excel, Word, etc.).
