About the role

  • Define and execute technical requirements for vessel performance modeling.
  • Execute the mechanical layout and structural integration of the complete Cat Marine scope.
  • Perform the detailed mechanical integration of marine propulsion engines and transmissions.
  • Prepare technical submittals and design documentation to ensure compliance with classification society rules.
  • Perform value-based benchmarking and analyze CAPEX and OPEX effects.
  • Manage engineering tasks for assigned projects from concept through validation.
  • Deliver high-precision 3D models, 2D drawings, P&IDs, and integrated drawings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, or a related technical discipline.
  • Proven experience in the design and mechanical integration of marine propulsion drivelines, gearboxes, transmissions, and vessel performance analysis.
  • Experience using simulation software (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink, Python, or proprietary vessel modeling tools).
  • Hands-on experience with the physical packaging and cooling requirements of battery systems, motors, and inverters.
  • Proficiency in rotational dynamics, torsional vibration, and structural mounting for heavy marine machinery.
  • High proficiency in Creo (Pro/E) for 3D modeling and AutoCAD for 2D schematics and P&IDs.
  • Ability to manage a Bill of Materials (BOM) and execute project plans for complex, multi-disciplinary engine room solutions.
