About the role
- Enable enterprise adoption of Microsoft Fabric by providing technical guidance, coaching, and best practices across analytics teams.
- Develop and maintain reusable assets, including templates, reference architectures, semantic model patterns, data pipelines, and governance documentation that support enterprise-wide modernization.
- Support teams in designing and optimizing Fabric Lakehouse environments, Data Factory pipelines, Dataflows Gen2, notebooks, and medallion‑style data architectures.
- Provide subject matter expertise for Microsoft Fabric, Power BI modeling, dataset optimization, DAX best practices, workspace design, and governance policies.
- Assist business units with complex or strategic analytics use cases, including performance tuning, troubleshooting, and proof‑of‑concept development.
- Partner with central infrastructure, platform engineering, and cybersecurity teams to ensure Fabric, Power BI, and related analytics services remain secure, scalable, reliable, and well-governed.
- Create monitoring approaches, standards, and operational best practices that uplift data quality, platform health, and BI performance across the enterprise.
- Collaborate with BI, data engineering, and data architecture teams to align enterprise analytics strategy with Caterpillar’s overall digital and data transformation roadmap.
- Support incident/problem management processes and communicate findings to business and technical stakeholders.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
- 7+ years of combined experience in Business Intelligence, data engineering, or analytics platform support.
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric components, including Lakehouse, Data Factory (pipelines, dataflows Gen2), Notebooks, Delta tables, and semantic model development.
- Strong proficiency with Power BI, including data modeling, DAX, dataset optimization, performance tuning, and workspace management.
- Solid understanding of data engineering concepts, including ingestion patterns, transformation logic, medallion architecture, and SQL.
- Experience developing or supporting reusable data/BI assets such as templates, pipelines, semantic models, or governance artifacts.
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills across distributed systems, BI tools, and data pipelines.
- Experience scripting or automating tasks using tools such as Python, PowerShell, or SQL.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with proven success supporting both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
