About the role
- Responsible for all activities related to the deployment, implementation, and administration of databases including control, maintenance, and support of all database environments and related applications.
- Perform all duties in accordance with the company’s policies and procedures, investor guidelines, all US state and federal laws and regulations.
- Monitor SQL Server health, jobs, storage, CPU, memory, and I/O for both SQL in Azure VM and Azure SQL environments to ensure stability.
- Execute routine database maintenance tasks including backups, integrity checks, and scheduled jobs to support system reliability.
- Troubleshoot basic database, job, and connectivity issues and escalate complex problems to senior team members for resolution.
- Support database deployments, code releases, and configuration changes in accordance with established change management processes.
- Maintain and update database documentation including runbooks, configurations, and operational procedures.
- Respond to production support requests and service desk tickets to ensure timely resolution of database-related issues.
- Participate in on call rotation.
Requirements
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server architecture, database objects, and relational database concepts including tables, indexes, and join.
- Basic knowledge of database backup, recovery models, and routine maintenance processes.
- Familiarity with SQL Server Agent jobs, scheduling, and monitoring concepts
- Basic understanding of database security concepts including logins, roles, and permissions
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to write and troubleshoot basic T-SQL queries for data validation and issue investigation.
- Ability to make decisions that have moderate impact on the department’s credibility, operations, and services.
- Ability to multi-task in a production support environment with attention to accuracy and timeliness.
- Strong attention to detail in executing tasks and reviewing results for accuracy.
- Ability to perform job duties in timely manner and meet service level agreements and timelines.
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment and supports shared operational responsibilities.
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent practical work experience.
- 0–2 years of experience working with Microsoft SQL Server or relational databases in a professional or an academic environment.
- Microsoft Azure database experience a plus.
