About the role

  • Leads, directs, integrates, and coordinates all Substance Use Disorder services
  • Assists in ensuring the clinical practices are consistently high in regard to levels of clinical and professional services provided
  • Responsible for the Hospital based Substance Use Disorder programs, MAT treatment programs, and all community-based inpatient and outpatient Substance Use Disorder programs
  • Operates in collaboration with a strong clinical management team
  • Facilitates Substance Use Disorder services strategic planning
  • Analyzes industry trends in the development of divisional operational needs
  • Leads Substance Use Disorder program planning, implementation, and evaluation efforts
  • Responsible for area strategic and tactical levels
  • Effectively communicates the vision of potential service line activities
  • Leads change to manage risk and ensures changes take hold
  • Responsible for leading strategic and business planning initiatives
  • Keeps abreast of literature, network, and colleagues
  • Attends meetings to remain current with technological advances
  • Identifies potential operations for new services
  • Develop strategy for contract negotiations
  • Assumes an active role in day-to-day operations of the Substance Use Disorder line across the service continuum
  • Works in conjunction with the Executive Leadership and Medical Staff
  • Ensures the highest level of care for patients
  • Works with physicians and staff to adopt and incorporate quality initiatives
  • Manages the growth of the programs
  • Creates solid cross-functional relationship across departments and other functional groups and coordinates projects
  • Responsible for the development and service outcome data, e.g. clinical outcomes, service and cost
  • Analyzes results and troubleshoots problem areas to mitigate program risks
  • Ensures system-wide compliance with all applicable laws and regulations affecting patient care services
  • Supports integration of patient care standards and practice with clinical programs
  • Works collaboratively with leadership, physicians, and other disciplines.
  • Promotes process improvement through the development, refinement, and use of quality measures and program evaluation methods
  • Promotes best practice care, professional conduct and a focus on customer relations, thereby improving patient satisfaction
  • Is knowledgeable of hospital and department compliance requirements for federally funded healthcare programs (e.g. Medicare and Medicaid) regarding fraud, waste, and abuse
  • Brings any questions or concerns regarding compliance to the immediate attention of hospital administrative staff
  • Takes appropriate action on concerns reported by department staff related to compliance
  • Collaboration with other departments to achieve financial objectives/goals
  • Responsible for formulating budgets
  • Demonstrates an understanding of financial analysis, pro forma development, capital planning/acquisition, and economic considerations.
  • Develops positive professional relationships with physicians and peers
  • Responsible for the management of all human resources in a cost-effective yet supportive manner
  • Coaches, mentors, motivates and supervises program management and staff members
  • Influences team to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work
  • Assembles and effectively leads direct reports and/or teams
  • Acts as facilitator of teamwork and decision-making in virtual and in-person settings
  • Develops positive cooperative working relationships with the medical staff
  • Ensures a high level of physician satisfaction with services

Requirements

  • Certified Supervisor Alcohol and Other Drug Counselor (CSADC) - within 2 years
  • Master's Degree
  • Substance Abuse Leadership - 3+ years
  • Knowledge in IDHS Rule 2060
  • Knowledge in American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM)
  • Knowledge in Substance Use Prevention & Recovery (SUPR)
  • Effective communication and engagement of leadership, staff, colleagues, providers
  • Effective planning skills in relation to Clinical, Operational, Service, and Financial Excellence
  • Effective skills in directing staff, colleagues, and providers
  • Effective skills in measuring, reporting, monitoring, and improving performance of operations, staff, and providers
  • Effective in identifying, surfacing, and resolving conflict within the organization
  • Analytic Skills
  • Effective leadership and management of continuous process
  • Effective outcome improvement in financial, operations, clinical, and service performance
  • Effective leadership and management in shared accountability model with Medical Director
  • Writes, reads, comprehends, and speaks fluent English.
