  • Assist in the design and development of innovative forklifts and material handling equipment, focusing on one of the following: Mechanical Design - Create layouts of proposed design ensuring that designs are functional, safe, reliable, serviceable, manufacturable, cost-effective and aesthetically and ergonomically correct.
  • Select appropriate materials, organize bill of materials data and approve detail drawings.
  • Hydraulics - Propose hydraulic systems to satisfy vehicle performance and reliability goals.
  • Develop specifications to meet goals, design systems, and specify components.
  • Oversee design activities necessary to develop, prototype, and launch an approved system and components.
  • Drivetrains - Introduce alternate drive train concepts to meet definitions or specifications.
  • Perform appropriate analysis of proposed gear drive, including gears, bearings, shafts, and housings for the variety of operating conditions expected to be encountered.
  • Motors - Research new motor designs, materials, and components.
  • Research manufacturing processes.
  • Provide cost estimates for projects.
  • Write design documentation.
  • Simulation Analysis - Perform structural or stability analysis of proposed or existing product, structure, or component designs to ensure that design goals are met.
  • Analyze failed structures or components to determine probable causes of failure.
  • Perform basic load and stress calculations and perform analysis using finite element analysis and fatigue life prediction tools.
  • Testing Procedures - Identify the commonly used concepts, methods, and procedures for the detailed development and analysis of experimental and standardized tests for new and modified products or components.
  • Devise and apply validation procedures for components and systems under development.
  • Evaluate new components and technologies.
