About the role

  • Responsible for developing, administering and coordinating all Patient Access activities to ensure daily efficient operations and staff compliance with all policies and procedures.
  • Manage and direct all activities of the department by providing leadership and serving as a resource to evaluate and identify strategies for problem solving.
  • Develop and implement all departmental policies, procedures and goals.
  • Perform managerial responsibilities such as interviewing, hiring, training, conducting performance evaluations, providing disciplinary action and recommending salary increases.
  • Ensure high levels of performance, achievement of goals and quality of results within the department through subordinate supervisor and team leaders.
  • Coordinate with Case Management, Nursing and other applicable departments to facilitate smooth patient admissions and patient flow.
  • Oversee the admission process, placement of same day admissions and processing of patients for elective, scheduled and ER admissions.
  • Lead or participate in multi-disciplinary teams to improve service, processes and system functionality.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of all payor policies as they relate to insurance coverage and eligibility of third party payers.
  • Oversee the process of notifying patients of expected liabilities and collection of payments at the time of medical services.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a healthcare or business related field
  • Minimum of 5 years management experience in a revenue cycle or acute healthcare environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
