About the role
- Lead programs that deliver on critical business goals and build large-scale products & platforms
- Build robust, scalable platforms to enable state of the art AI capabilities to be integrated with both customer-facing and internal applications
- Enable platforms that serve Capital One lines of business (credit card, retail banking, auto finance) to build AI experiences for customers, developers and internal stakeholders
- Pave the way for an expanding TPM discipline within the team; teach the organization what a great TPM can achieve
- Grow and develop a team of TPMs and build foundations for the TPM practice
- Simplify technically complex problems and drive well-educated decisions across product, engineering, design, and data science representatives
- Proactively identify and mitigate technical risks throughout delivery lifecycle
- Drive execution, follow-through, accountability, and measurable results
- Collaborate across different functions, organizations, and reporting boundaries to secure commitments and unblock teams to land business impact
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree
- At least 7 years of experience managing technical programs
- Strong technical backgrounds (ideally building highly scalable platforms, products, or services)
- Ability to proactively identify and mitigate technical risks throughout delivery life-cycle
- Exceptional communication and collaboration skills
- Excellent problem solving and influencing skills
- A quantitative approach to problem solving and a collaborative implementer to holistic solutions; a systems thinker
- Experience as a TPM leader to grow and develop a team of TPMs, while also building the foundations for the TPM practice
- Ability to simplify the technically complex and drive well-educated decisions across product, engineering, design, and data science representatives
- Deep focus on execution, follow-through, accountability, and results
- Exceptional cross-team collaboration; able to work across different functions, organizations, and reporting boundaries
- Highly tuned emotional intelligence, good listener, and deep seated empathy for teams and partners
- 7+ years of experience designing and building data-intensive solutions using distributed computing (Preferred)
- 3+ years of experience building distributed systems & highly available services using cloud computing services/architecture - preferably using AWS (Preferred)
- 3+ years experience building highly scalable mobile products & platforms (Preferred)
- 3+ years of experience with Agile delivery (Preferred)
- 3+ years experience delivering large and complex programs - where you own the business or technical vision, collaborate with large cross-functional teams, secure commitments on deliverables and unblock teams to land business impact (Preferred)
- Experience in building systems & solutions within a highly regulated environment (Preferred)
- Bachelor's degree in a related technical field (Computer Science, Software Engineering) (Preferred)
- MBA or Master’s Degree in a related technical field (Computer Science, Software Engineering) or equivalent experience (Preferred)
