About the role

  • Drafting and developing Discover Payment Network Operating Regulations and related publications
  • Partnering with accountable executives to develop new network policies
  • Ensuring rules are accurate, consistent and transparent
  • Regularly influencing and engaging with a wide range of cross-functional stakeholders
  • Ensuring internal rule change management, submission and approval processes are followed and appropriately documented
  • Ensuring ongoing compliance with internal rule change management, submission and approval processes
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with peers and stakeholders across Legal, Risk, Compliance, Product, Technology and Operations teams
  • Embrace and develop skills in the use of technology (including AI-enabled tools where appropriate) to improve rule quality, consistency and operational efficiency

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree or Military Experience
  • At least 3 years of experience in contracts, risk assessment, or liability frameworks
  • Juris Doctor (JD), LLB or equivalent legal qualification or paralegal experience in contracts management (preferred)
  • 4+ years of experience in contracts, risk assessment, or liability frameworks (preferred)
  • Experience with payments network governance models, including participant obligations, enforcement mechanisms and change management processes (preferred)
