About the role
- Regular inspections of domestic properties or sites with planning permission
- Visiting commercial properties
- Ensuring new builds are identified and added to the council tax list
- Establishing liability or entitlement to tax discounts, exemptions, or reliefs
- Taking action where reliefs no longer apply
- Arranging appointments with landlords and business owners to access premises
- Ensuring database is accurate and up-to-date
- Liaising with other agencies and council departments
- Handling all admin work related to inspections
Requirements
- Excellent communication skills
- Solid understanding of current legislation and best practice
- Good manner and ability to deal with customers with sympathy and tact
- Able to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
- Full, clean driving licence
- Prepared to drive across the Vale of White Horse and South Oxfordshire District Council areas
