About the role
- Owning and delivering against a strategic architecture and roadmap for Canva’s Detection and Response Team
- Identifying and delivering improved security response tooling and capabilities across areas that may include: Case Management, Automation, SOAR, SIEM, Detection, Forensics and Malware Analysis
- Evangelising and leading the adoption and integration of GenAI Workflows to raise the efficiency and scalability of the Detection and Response team’s operations
- Leading engineering excellence across the Detection and Response team’s tooling and capability program through individual delivery and by mentoring other engineers
- Acting as a technical leader working across security teams to deliver joint goals for Detection and Response
- Assisting your team in interviewing and hiring other talented security engineers
- Mentoring and supporting the growth of your colleagues in your areas of expertise.
Requirements
- Experience in owning and successfully delivering against long term strategic roadmaps for Security Detection and Response team tooling and capabilities
- Hands on experience in the development of scalable security automation, case management, detection and response tooling, capabilities and workflows
- Demonstrated ability to navigate engineering decisions, especially in "Build vs Buy" scenarios, assessing third-party systems for partnerships, and effective vendor management to align with business objectives
- Proficiency in modern programming languages (Golang, Python, or Java preferred) for crafting secure software
- Strong project management skills, with a history of leading projects from start to finish, effectively collaborating with various stakeholders, and guiding security teams
- Excellent communication abilities, skilled in interacting with diverse groups and distilling complex technical concepts
- Experience with Security Incident Response and Threat Modelling
