About the role
- Define functional requirements, integration needs, user experience expectations, and deployment approaches for new and enhanced platform capabilities.
- Develop well‑formed user stories, problem statements, and acceptance criteria to support efficient team execution.
- Partner with development teams to ensure delivered features meet agreed-upon requirements, quality standards, and timelines.
- Support sprint sequencing, incremental delivery planning, and ongoing refinement of work in progress.
- Participate fully in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, reviews, retrospectives, stand-ups, and demos.
- Maintain product quality through well-defined acceptance criteria and structured validation processes.
- Collaborate closely with Candescent clients and internal teams to gather requirements and validate designs.
- Represent the product in internal and external forums, including presenting new functionality and gathering feedback via user groups.
- Prepare documentation that explains new and existing functionality for customers and internal stakeholders.
- Contribute to short- and long-term product roadmaps in partnership with Product Managers, ensuring alignment to strategic objectives.
- Gather and analyze customer needs, market trends, and user research to inform product direction.
- Develop deep user understanding through personas, journey maps, and other insight‑gathering methods.
- Participate in PI (Program Increment) planning to inform team backlogs and cross‑functional alignment.
- Write and prioritize user stories based on business value, user impact, and technical feasibility.
- Evaluate backlog items continuously, balancing effort versus customer value.
- Manage dependencies, facilitate cross‑team engagement, and proactively resolve blockers.
- Collaborate with Product Managers on product performance, pricing considerations, and profitability analysis.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent field
- 5+ years of experience in the financial industry, ideally within digital, online, or mobile banking for consumer or small business markets.
- Proven experience shipping software products across the full lifecycle (definition → design → release).
- Strong understanding of complex technical and business problems in banking or financial technology.
- Hands-on experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
- Familiarity with industry standards such as PCI, WCAG, and FFIEC.
- Strong communication, problem‑solving, leadership, and time‑management skills.
- Ability to articulate and prioritize user needs to drive product value delivery.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to balance customer value, user impact, and technical feasibility.
