About the role
- Lead a team of commissioning engineers and technicians delivering end-to-end commissioning for large-scale BESS projects
- Develop commissioning plans and procedures, including quality inspections, scheduling, logistics, and resource allocation
- Act as the key technical liaison between clients, EPCs, and internal engineering teams during project execution
- Oversee all aspects of site commissioning and acceptance testing – including batteries, PCS, EMS, communications, and balance of plant systems
- Drive consistent commissioning processes, documentation, and safety practices across projects
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, contractors, and internal stakeholders
- Lead by example — fostering collaboration, problem-solving, and a safety-first culture within your team
- Travel to project sites as needed for on-site leadership during key commissioning phases.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering (or related field)
- 5+ years of experience in commissioning or project delivery within energy, utilities, substation, or EPC environments
- At least 2 years’ experience leading teams or supervising technical staff
- Strong understanding of electrical systems, protection schemes, and power system design
- Experience with grid connection processes, R2 testing, and hold point testing is highly regarded
- Previous experience with battery storage or renewable energy projects highly regarded
- Proficiency in MS Project or Smartsheet, with solid technical documentation skills
- A confident communicator with the ability to simplify complex technical issues and drive decisions under pressure
- Willingness to travel and work flexibly during key commissioning milestones.
