About the role
- Lead enterprise-level network support and modernization for U.S. Air Force mission-critical infrastructure
- Oversee complex break/fix efforts and supervise break/fix and maintenance activities
- Monitor network assets per SLAs and ensure resilient network performance
- Troubleshoot routers, switches, firewalls and complex network problems to closure
- Provide engineering-level input for site surveys, installations, configuration and documentation
- Perform hands-on technical leadership at the Network Operations Center
- Analyze network protocols, routing standards and procedures, traffic patterns, and data flow
- Ensure alignment with cybersecurity, SLA, and DoD modernization objectives
- Communicate clearly in writing and orally and present products and ideas professionally
Requirements
- Active secret clearance required (some locations may require TS/SCI)
- Technical BA/BS degree required (7 years experience with bachelor’s degree)
- Alternatively, High School diploma or associate degree with a minimum of 10 years performing as a Network Engineer
- 7 years performing as a Network Engineer supporting large, complex networks in a Network Operations Center environment
- Experience with DoD IT security requirements and supporting DoD network modernization projects
- Experience maintaining and fixing legacy wired solutions and providing touch labor for network devices
- Extensive experience with Enterprise and Data Center networks and network security technologies
- Experience with DMVPN, EIGRP, BGP
- Experience with network automation technologies
- Hands-on experience with Cisco routers, switches, and firewalls (support for other vendor products)
- Troubleshooting complex network problems to closure
- Performs site surveys, configuration and engineering, installation planning, and documentation
- Proficient with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio)
- Willingness to travel (Percentage of Travel Required: Up to 25%)
- Certification(s): DoD 8570 IAT III Baseline Certification (CompTIA Security+ CE or CCNA-SEC or equivalent); CCNP, CCDP, or equivalent
- Desired: ITIL v3 or ITSM experience; CCNA; Juniper
