About the role

  • Responsible for carrying out analysis of environmental samples in strict compliance with SOPs and Health and Safety policies
  • Prepare and analyze test samples using complex analytical instrumentation
  • Perform set-up, calibration, and routine/preventive maintenance of analytical equipment
  • Process, review, and interpret analytical data
  • Prepare reagents and standards according to SOPs
  • Operate and maintain instruments to complete tasks
  • Review LIMS summary report to plan and prioritize daily work
  • Provide updates to Supervisor/Manager on workstation status
  • Maintain appropriate inventory levels
  • Provide training and direction to junior staff
  • Participate in internal/external audits
  • Identify and document sample deviations and report to Supervisor

Requirements

  • Science Technical Diploma or B.Sc. or equivalent
  • SVOC extractions and analysis experience with chlorinated, non-chlorinated and hydroxyl Phenols
  • Experience with Acid Base Neutrals
  • GCMS/MS experience would be an asset
  • Strong science background and experience in laboratory practices
  • Competent in reviewing analytical procedures and practices
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • High degree of accuracy
  • Positive outlook with an ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Good time-management, communication, multi-tasking and priority setting skills
  • Ability to adapt to a changing environment
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
