About the role

  • Define and drive the visual design vision for Bumble’s conversational and agentic experiences.
  • Establish and maintain the highest standard of craft quality across the org, acting as a role model for other designers.
  • Extend and mature Bumble’s design system to support conversational UI patterns and agentic flows.
  • Set the standards for typography, color, iconography, and motion language in AI-driven contexts, ensuring they scale globally and inclusively.
  • Partner with design systems and engineering to codify these standards into reusable frameworks.
  • Partner with Product, Engineering, and AI/ML teams to shape how conversational features are designed, built, and launched.
  • Represent visual design at the strategy table, ensuring craft is a core pillar of Bumble’s product differentiation.
  • Influence executive decision-making by articulating the design vision and demonstrating its business impact.
  • Mentor mid-level designers, developing the next generation of visual design leaders.
  • Actively shape Bumble’s design culture, fostering curiosity, inclusivity, and a bias toward excellence.
  • Lead exploration into new paradigms for conversational and agentic experiences (e.g., proactive guidance, contextual AI support, hybrid chat interfaces).
  • Prototype and experiment with new visual metaphors for AI, ensuring they feel human-centered and emotionally intelligent.
  • Act as a thought leader internally and externally, positioning Bumble as a pioneer in humanizing AI experiences through design.

Requirements

  • Deep experience (12+ years) in product/visual design, including senior leadership in conversational, agentic, or AI-driven experiences.
  • A portfolio that demonstrates mastery of visual craft in digital products, with clear evidence of scaling conversational or agentic systems.
  • Strong cross-functional leadership experience, with the ability to partner credibly with executives, engineers, and researchers.
  • Recognized as a mentor and culture-builder, able to develop talent and set organizational craft standards.
  • Passionate about designing for trust, inclusivity, and safety.
