About the role
- Ensure disciplined risk-taking, robust underwriting standards and portfolio resilience across market cycles
- Strategically evolve and further the implementation of the Financial Risk Management Framework
- Be a key strategic adviser to the CRO, Exco and Board on credit and investment risks in BBB portfolio
- Provide independent challenge to the business on deal underwriting, valuation methodologies, financial modelling assumptions and downside stress scenarios
- Ensure the appropriateness and adequacy of underlying deal underwriting processes and provide assurance to the Board on quality and adequacy of deal process and due diligence undertaken
Requirements
- Deep experience of financial risk management in relevant asset classes through economic cycles
- Thought leader on evolving risk strategy to respond to, and anticipate market needs
- Engage with Board members and provide relevant advice and strategic direction to a team of dedicated experts
- Experience evaluating complex investments, structured products and illiquid assets across multiple market cycles
- Understanding of financial analysis, debt and equity valuations, risk concepts/frameworks with a special focus on unlisted and illiquid equities, securitisations and SME debt
- Good understanding of the UK regulatory environment in which banks and fund managers operate
