About the role

  • Coordinates, initiates, monitors, and responds to all patient requests/demands.
  • Performs research, gathers financial data, and conducts focused review of Self-Pay, Medicare and Medicaid and Foundation patients billing to analyze, summarize, prepare reports, and make recommendations.
  • Coordinates with facility subject matter experts (SME) regularly/consistently regarding patient financial status.
  • Uses data and maintains database to track information including but not limited to trends regarding Self-Pay, Medicare and Medicaid and Foundation patients billing practice both within and outside of the practice.
  • Assists Self-Pay Patients with obtaining needed information to coordinate a payment arrangement.
  • Provides assistance with completing applications for Medicaid, and Medicare as needed.
  • Utilize Care logic, Micro MD and Availity software to perform needed job functions.
  • Submits eligibility transactions through appropriate channels.
  • Updates and maintains accurate and complete information in systems of record.
  • Evaluates assigned accounts receivable, performing appropriate action toward resolution, including, but not limited to, generating patient statements and posting financial transactions within system of record.
  • Serves as a SME on Medicaid application forms and processes.
  • Performs other duties as required.
  • Assure documentation is in compliance with regulatory agency requirements and best practices.
  • Adhere to the organization’s policy, procedures and professional code of ethics.

Requirements

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor’s degree in accounting, health care administration, finance, business, or related field preferred.
  • Experience: Prefer Two (2) years’ previous experience in medical billing.
  • Self-motivated and self-directed; able to work without supervision.
  • Proficient computer skills, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel); working knowledge of billing software a plus.
