About the role
- Provide mechanical engineering guidance in the design, development, procurement, modification, and maintenance of overhead crane and hoisting systems
- Partner and collaborate closely with other engineering, maintenance, operations, and project management teams
- Develop conceptual designs, rough cost estimates, and preliminary project schedules
- Review, approve, and verify crane mechanical system designs & installs to ensure compliance with requirements and regulations
- Support accuracy of system documentation and drawing libraries
- Create CAD drawings and documentation aligned to facility standards; review contractor control drawing redline submittals after construction; verify as-built drawings
- Provide input to strategic, short term, and long term infrastructure planning, recommending improvements
- Work with internal & external partners to identify and assess alternatives and impacts
- Determine causes of asset failures using reliability tools & methods (lifecycle analysis, CBM, MTBF, fault tree analysis)
- Demonstrate commitment to safety and operational excellence
- Up to 15% travel required to Boeing sites in Puget Sound area as needed
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in mechanical engineering or related engineering field
- 5+ years of experience in an engineering role
- 3+ years of experience maintaining mechanical cranes and hoisting systems including cables, chain sheaves and hooks
- Experience reading & understanding engineering drawings, schematics, and specifications
- Ability to perform work at heights up to 50 feet above ground level with appropriate safety gear
- U.S. Person as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15 required to meet export control compliance (U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee)
