About the role
- Directs and initiates complex analysis and evaluation of parts, materials, processes, technology or equipment through research and testing to ensure safety, reliability and adherence to requirements and specifications
- Leads and directs analysis of failed parts and processes to reduce or eliminate future failures
- Leads efforts to generate test plans, identify and categorize failure, determine root cause and document results and recommendations
- Propose, develop and validate revisions to procedures and specifications
- Design, develop, fabricate, test, evaluate and implement new concepts and technology to resolve complex problems and support continuous improvement
- Consult with others to resolve complex or high-impact issues with suppliers and customers
- Provides direction, consultation and technical expertise to internal and external customers
- Coaches and mentors others
- Certify, qualify, approve and implement Nondestructive Evaluation technologies across Phantom Works Supply Chain
- Mentor early career engineers in the development, certification, qualification, and implementation of Nondestructive Evaluation technology
- Author / Revise specifications for use on Boeing Phantom Works programs
- Review Scan Plans and interpret Computed Tomography, Ultrasonic, and Radiography Data
- Review and approve supplier procedures / techniques for various NDT Methods
- Develop Statement of Works and Procurement specifications for new inspection systems
- Mature new capabilities for incorporation into production or supply base
- Training of junior level employees
- Adhere to strict safety protocols
Requirements
- Certifiable to NAS410 Level 3 in a minimum of 4 Methods (PT, RT, MT, UT, ET, IR, ST) or Currently holds ASNT Level 3 Certification in a minimum of 3 Methods (PT, RT, MT, UT, ET, IR, ST)
- Education/experience typically acquired through advanced education (e.g. Associate) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Ability to obtain a US Security Clearance; US Citizenship required
- Experience auditing NDT facilities, qualifying NDT equipment, review and approval of supplier techniques and procedures, and participating in RCCA Process
- 10+ years of NDT Experience (preferred)
- AA Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Software, Computer, Chemical, Aerospace, Material Science, Materials Engineering or Computer Science, Chemistry, or Physics (preferred)
- Drug screening compliance
- Must live in immediate area or relocate at own expense (relocation assistance not provided)
- Export control compliance: U.S. Person required (U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee)
- Safety-sensitive role subject to random drug testing
