About the role
- Oversee a team of engineers focused on the design, analysis, and testing of aircraft systems and components
- Oversee the preparation and submission of comprehensive technical documentation required for FAA certification
- Assist in oversight of software suppliers in development of airborne systems software and related project management activities
- Support review and approval of suppliers’ software lifecycle data throughout software lifecycle processes
- Assist in stage of involvement (SOI) reviews/audits, Requirements Reviews, Design Reviews, and Test Readiness Reviews
- Support software project management and software supplier management functions
- Work collaboratively with suppliers to ensure systems operate as designed and free of safety issues and quality problems
- Review and disposition problem reports written by Systems Engineers and Suppliers
- Apply the guidelines from DO-178B/C to software development projects to support compliance and certification activities
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in software engineering
- 3+ years of experience in RTCA DO-178(B/C) Software Considerations in Airborne Systems and Equipment Certification
- Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science (preferred)
- 9 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (preferred)
- 12+ years’ experience in software development life cycles, configuration management and agile software engineering practices (preferred)
- 9+ years’ experience developing, documenting and maintaining architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces and designs for software systems (preferred)
- 9+ years’ experience leading development projects (preferred)
- Experience using common software version control tools such as Git (preferred)
- Experience with Agile planning tool such as JIRA (preferred)
- Must meet export control compliance requirements; must be a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15 (U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee)
