About the role

  • Build and maintain information systems in compliance with JSIG/RMF security requirements, including hardware and software installation, network configuration, and troubleshooting
  • Administer RedHat 7 and higher environments, perform preventative maintenance, and conduct monthly server patching
  • Utilize vulnerability scanners like ACAS/Nessus and manage distributed file systems
  • Maintain and organize the server room and data center, ensuring proper installation, tidy cabling, spare parts management, and inventory updates
  • Document the existing environment, including server inventory, operating systems, connectivity diagrams, and create standard operating procedures for system administration tasks
  • Mentor junior team members and provide leadership
  • Diagnose and resolve performance issues related to CPU, memory, and disk
  • Open support tickets with vendors for system component failures, coordinate downtime with application owners, and perform necessary replacements
  • Provide day-to-day support for ticket requests, including DNS entries, filesystem storage increases, user account requests, and performance tuning
  • Support the backup environment through software upgrades, daily log reviews, and failure resolution to ensure smooth operations

Requirements

  • RMF compliant with a Security+ certificate or obtain certification within first 6 months
  • Active U.S. Secret Security Clearance required (U.S. Citizenship Required)
  • Must meet export control compliance requirements; be a "U.S. Person" per 22 C.F.R. §120.15 (U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee)
  • Employer will not sponsor applicants for employment visa status
  • 5+ years of experience with RedHat-based systems (RHEL, Oracle Linux, Fedora) and SUSE distro 12 or greater (preferred)
  • 5+ years of experience in designing and implementing IT security systems and administering user system access (preferred)
  • 3+ years of experience with virtualization technologies, including VMware (preferred)
  • Experience installing, configuring, and troubleshooting Linux-based systems and desktop operating systems
  • Experience with vulnerability scanners like ACAS/Nessus and managing distributed file systems
  • Experience with iLOs and applying RMF guidelines for compliance
  • Experience with Linux file structures
  • Experience developing PowerShell and Linux scripts for hardware integration and OS deployment automation
  • Ability to open vendor support tickets, coordinate downtime, and perform hardware replacements
  • Experience maintaining server room and data center operations and inventory
