About the role
- Design and implement new features within UE5 or evolve pre-existing engine features in collaboration with artists, designers, and engineers to meet project requirements.
- Optimize Unreal Engine 5 performance and functionality across multiple hardware platforms.
- Act as a primary point-of-contact to the larger development team on all issues engine-related, providing guidance to designers, artists, and gameplay engineers on how to optimally leverage engine functionality to maximize engine performance and minimize application memory consumption.
- Work with project leadership to identify, prioritize, and implement improvements for engine-based workflows.
Requirements
- Extensive experience as an Engine Engineer using Unreal Engine 5, experience shipping or launching a UE5 game strongly preferred.
- Writing fluent C++ code with a sophisticated knowledge of both historical patterns and modern language features.
- Understanding of data structures and algorithms and their appropriate use cases.
- Experience with multithreading, performance analysis, and code optimization.
- Experience shipping games on multiple platforms.
- Experience as an engine programmer working with AAA third-party game engines.
- Shipped at least one AAA game in a similar role.
- Previous experience leading and mentoring a team of engineers (extra points).
- Familiarity with C# (extra points).
- A degree in computer science or a related field (extra points).
- Strong documentation philosophies to capture and evangelize best practices (extra points).
