About the role

  • Functions in a lead technician capacity, technical design specialist and/or supervisor
  • Applies advanced technical knowledge to solve complex design challenges, typically within a specific engineering discipline
  • Contributes to the development of innovative engineering solutions
  • Utilizes digital tools and design software (e.g., CAD, BIM, 3D modeling) in accordance with standardized procedures to create, modify, and maintain technical documentation, drawings, and project deliverables
  • Ensures technical excellence, adherence to schedules, and compliance with budgetary requirements
  • Coordinates efforts across departments, teams, and stakeholders
  • May supervise an assigned team of engineering technicians and support personnel
  • Communicates and sets appropriate design and graphic standards
  • Reviews project requirements and accurately determines the correct format and contents of the required deliverables
  • Promotes quality within project/group/section
  • Reviews design inputs in order to ensure consistency
  • Ensures that design deliverables are prepared, coordinated among disciplines and issued in accordance with BV Quality Assurance Procedures and project-specific procedures
  • Looks for ways to improve applications integration, coordination, and communication across disciplines
  • Contributes to the continuous improvement of guides and standards
  • Participates in and leads process improvement activities and assignments
  • Applies sound engineering fundamentals and established design practices in developing deliverables
  • Coordinates deliverable presentations, delegates production design, or other electronic applications
  • Monitors production to assure consistency, budget, and schedule of deliverables
  • Establish the appropriate method for drawing control and historical records
  • Programs control systems or participates in other plant start-up activities associated with a specialized expertise area
  • May support field activities
  • May manage multiple discipline areas or groups
  • Communicates project design requirements, progress and schedules
  • Responsible for determining identification of key client interests and drivers on projects
  • Communicate client interests and drivers to project team members and develop approaches to accommodate these concerns
  • Lead in the development and communication of appropriate design standards and process improvement activities
  • Identify training and development needs for personnel they supervise and participate in training efforts
  • Serves as the champion for project tool/application development and improvement for software tools

Requirements

  • Typically a minimum of 15 years related work experience
  • Associate Degree in Drafting or an Engineering Design Related Technology preferred
  • Bachelor Degree in an Engineering Design Related Technology (preferred)
