Learning and Development

• Support a portfolio of BioMADE EWD projects selected to advance bioindustrial manufacturing awareness, training, and career development. Monitor EWD program progress, deliverables and milestones, and project-related fiscal and administrative reporting.
• Utilize subject-matter expertise to guide and support project teams on proposal submission quality and compliance with BioMADE procedural requirements.
• Integrate elements of the BioMADE EWD guiding documents and defined metrics into project calls.
• Conduct regular status meetings with project teams. Review, evaluate, and approve monthly and quarterly project reports to ensure risks are mitigated and projects are progressing according to schedule.
• Reporting and presentation of project status, achievements, and products to internal stakeholders, government, members and the broader bioindustrial manufacturing EWD community.
• Collaborate with the BioMADE Communications Team on publications, presentations, and other project deliverables to ensure that projects are being appropriately shared with BioMADE membership and external stakeholders, in accordance with BioMADE guidelines.
• Utilize subject-matter expertise to guide and support members and project teams on proposal submission quality, and compliance with BioMADE procedural requirements.
• Conduct site visits to meet with COE hubs and with members working on funded projects.
• Present on BioMADE and programmatic success to various stakeholders including the public through conferences, academic and industry presentations, and other open venues.
• Other duties as assigned or as they become apparent.

Education and Workforce Development Project Specialist

• Lead the creation of a Center of Excellence (COE) for bioindustrial manufacturing education and training, to include the development of regional hubs.
• Serve as BioMADE Chair of the EWD Committee that will develop EWD Roadmap and contribute to the establishment of a framework of quantifiable metrics. Work with Committee and Program Team to integrate these elements into Project Calls.
• Conduct regular status meetings with project teams. Review, evaluate, and approve monthly and quarterly project reports to ensure risks are mitigated and projects are progressing according to schedule.
• Utilize subject-matter expertise to guide and support project teams on proposal submission quality and compliance with BioMADE procedural requirements.
• Lead portfolio and project reporting (written and presentations), to include project status, achievements, and products to internal stakeholders, members, government and the broader bioindustrial manufacturing EWD community.
• Review and approve final EWD program reports, work with the Contracts & Agreements Team and Finance Team on project close-out, and Communications Team on post-award impact reports to identify project achievements to be shared publicly.
• Utilize subject-matter expertise to guide and support members and project teams on proposal submission quality, and compliance with BioMADE procedural requirements.

Education and Workforce Development Program Lead

Controller

• Lead and supervise all core accounting functions, including general ledger, accounts payable, payroll, revenue, grant accounting and compliance, and financial reporting.
• Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, including review of journal entries, account reconciliations, account analyses, and supporting schedules to ensure accurate and timely financial statements.
• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and accounting reports for internal and external use, ensuring compliance with organizational policies and applicable accounting standards.
• Establish, maintain, and continuously improve accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to support compliance, accuracy, and operational efficiency.
• Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, Uniform Guidance (2 CFR 200), and other applicable federal regulations related to accounting and grant administration.
• Oversee grant accounting and reporting, including tracking restricted funding, reviewing allowability of costs, supporting grant-related reporting requirements, and maintaining readiness for audit and compliance review.
• Lead, coach, and develop accounting staff across the accounting operations function, setting priorities, improving performance, and building capabilities to support a growing organization.
• Partner with the Chief Financial Officer and other stakeholders on the implementation and continuous improvement of systems, workflows, and processes affecting the accounting function, including record-to-report, order-to-cash, and procure-to-pay.
• Collaborate with the Financial Planning & Analysis Director and cross-functional stakeholders to ensure complete, accurate, and timely financial data is captured systematically to support management reporting, forecasting, external reporting, and government fund accounting.
• Lead coordination with external auditors, tax advisors, and other professional service firms supporting annual audits, tax filings, and other compliance requirements

Engineer

• Define, design, and deliver pilot scale and intermediate scale facilities as part of a national network of 12–15 sites.
• Partner with members and external consultants to translate needs into robust unit operations and facility designs that support domestic scaleup to production level capabilities.
• Contribute to equipment specification and selection, bid package development, procurement activities, installation oversight, and startup support.
• Ensure effective knowledge transfer across teams, partners, and stakeholders.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Author or review frontend loading (FEL) documents, engineering drawings, equipment datasheets, and technical documentation.
• Review and develop piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs) for utility systems and process equipment.
• Support development and review of automation and control system documentation.
• Author or review Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Process Safety Reviews.
• Work closely with vendors to ensure alignment on technical requirements, equipment performance, and delivery expectations.
• Manage engineering deliverables, project schedules, and budgets in collaboration with internal teams and external partners.
• Coordinate with cross functional stakeholders to ensure facility and process designs meet operational, safety, and regulatory requirements.
• Lead planning, execution, and delivery of engineering and facility related projects from concept through commissioning.
• Develop and maintain project timelines, resource plans, and risk mitigation strategies.
• Facilitate communication across internal teams, external partners, and contractors to ensure project alignment and timely decision making.
• Track project progress, identify deviations, and implement corrective actions to maintain scope, schedule, and budget.
• Support project reporting, documentation, and governance activities to ensure transparency and accountability.
