Collaborate with business stakeholders to identify opportunities for data science solutions that improve operational efficiency, customer experience, and sustainability.
Design, develop, and deploy machine learning models and advanced analytics solutions using Azure Machine Learning, Azure Databricks, and related services.
Build and maintain scalable data pipelines using Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, and other Azure-native tools.
Perform exploratory data analysis, feature engineering, and model validation using Python or similar languages.
Work closely with data engineers and architects to ensure data quality, governance, and security across the Azure ecosystem.
Communicate findings and insights through compelling visualizations and dashboards using Power BI.
Contribute to the development of best practices, reusable assets, and knowledge sharing within the data science community of practice.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field. (Typically four years of related, progressive work experience would be needed for candidates applying for this position who do not possess a bachelor's degree.)
Master’s in data science or related technical field preferred.
Eighteen months of work and/or internship experience required for level 1; primarily in a data science, modeling or administration role preferred.
A minimum of three years of additional directly-related experience is required for level 2.
Five years of related work experience, primarily in a data science, modeling and administration role for level 3.
Six years of related work experience, primarily in a data science, modeling and administration role for Sr level.
Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure services, including: Azure Machine Learning; Azure Data Factory; Azure Databricks; Azure DevOps.
Proficiency in Python or similar programming languages.
Strong SQL skills and experience working with large-scale data sets.
Experience with version control (e.g., Git) and Agile development practices.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Proven experience working in the utility industry is preferred.
Effective oral and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams and mentor junior engineers.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and projects concurrently.
