About the role
- Own the editorial content calendar in partnership with the Head of SEO, prioritizing categories, themes, and formats based on strategic opportunity.
- Define content angles, framing, narrative structure, and key messaging for new articles, updates, and category builds.
- Design editorial frameworks and templates that ensure clarity, accessibility, authority, and search intent alignment.
- Identify opportunities for new hubs, subcategories, and topical expansion through keyword, intent, and competitor analysis.
- Translate SEO insights into prioritized content clusters, briefs, and scalable templates.
- Monitor generative search ecosystems (SGE, AI Overviews, LLM-driven results) and guide editorial adjustments to maintain visibility.
- Scope, brief, and publish research-driven content in partnership with Brand and PR.
- Create clear, structured content briefs covering outlines, tone, SEO requirements, research inputs, and sourcing expectations.
- Guide editors and writers on depth, clinical accuracy, readability, and user intent.
- Recommend high-impact updates, rewrites, or repositioning of underperforming content.
- Act as the editorial owner for accuracy, sensitivity, inclusivity, and narrative quality.
- Partner with clinical and legal teams to validate sensitive or high-risk content.
- Uphold and evolve brand voice and editorial guidelines across all content surfaces.
- Ensure cohesive storytelling across blog, category pages, video scripts, and social content.
- Analyze SEO, engagement, and AI-visibility metrics to inform editorial improvements.
- Recommend and evaluate tests across headlines, structure, snippets, and metadata.
- Communicate insights to SEO leadership, linking editorial changes to rankings, traffic, category growth, and conversion impact.
- Recommend landing page improvements or new page creation based on performance and competitive analysis.
Requirements
- 4–7+ years in editorial strategy, SEO content strategy, or digital publishing in a high-volume content environment.
- Strong understanding of mental health or other sensitive, regulated domains preferred.
- Experience managing an editorial team.
- Demonstrated ability to translate keyword research and search data into editorial strategy.
- Skilled at structuring content for user intent, discoverability, clarity, and authority.
- Proficiency with keyword tools, analytics platforms, and generative search tools (e.g., Ahrefs, Profound, GSC, SimilarWeb, AirOps).
- Experience working with a CMS (publishing workflows, templates, content modeling, QA).
- Exceptional writing, editing, and narrative-structuring skills.
- Deep understanding of inclusive language, clinical nuance, and editorial sensitivity requirements.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across SEO, clinical, brand, PR, and legal teams.
