About the role

  • Deliver design solutions for projects of medium-sized scope and complexity, working largely independently.
  • Deliver designs for all stages of product development as needed (user flows, wireframes, mockups, AI-generated and interactive prototypes, handover specifications, journey maps) that meet or exceed user needs and have a sense of craftsmanship.
  • Embrace and advance AI-first design practices, using generative AI and rapid prototyping tools to accelerate exploration, test assumptions early, and push the boundaries of what's possible in our product experience.
  • Go beyond best practices in your design solutions, uncovering novel and unexpected yet viable solutions.
  • Guide the UX direction in your product area by familiarizing yourself with user problems for your product area, business goals, and mapping the relevant user journeys.
  • Collaborate with Product Managers, UX Researchers, Scientists, and Engineers to execute on tasks, align on problem spaces, and deliver impactful, feasible solutions.
  • Apply data-informed design decisions using qualitative research, analytics, and experimentation to improve product outcomes.
  • Elevate product quality by contributing to and upholding design systems, documentation, and pattern guidelines.
  • Identify proactively instances where patterns, product consistency, and UX quality break down within the product, and engage additional senior design members to collaboratively determine scalable solutions for these issues.
  • Present clear, compelling design narratives, leveraging AI tools to rapidly prototype concepts and communicate design intent to facilitate team and stakeholder alignment on design solutions.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in product design or equivalent, with a portfolio showing high-quality work on complex products.
  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of continued education and experience in a related field (i.e. design, human-computer interaction, UX design, software engineering, etc.)
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute to UX within a product area and deliver user-centric solutions in collaboration with cross-functional peers.
  • Strong visual, interaction, and systems thinking skills, with proficiency in low- to high-fidelity prototyping.
  • Demonstrated experience using AI prototyping tools (e.g., Claude, Cursor, v0, or similar) to accelerate design exploration and validation.
  • Comfort in navigating ambiguity and using experimentation to validate design direction.
  • Experience contributing to design systems, patterns, and guidelines at a product or design org level would be an asset.
  • Skilled communication, able to explain rationale, influence stakeholders, and mentor others.
  • Adaptability in presenting information to various stakeholder levels, and can explain complex concepts with simplicity and accuracy.
  • Proficiency in design and collaboration tools such as Figma and Miro.
  • A background in life sciences (strong asset).
