About the role
- Serving as the primary technical and commercial interface for key refinery customers, developing strong relationships and ensuring successful deployment and performance of BASF refinery catalyst solutions.
- Understanding customer plant operations, process challenges, and performance targets to recommend catalyst products, operating strategies, and optimization opportunities.
- Leading technical discussions with customers, licensors, and engineering partners to support catalyst selection, system design, and performance evaluations.
- Developing and delivering technical proposals, performance analyses, and catalyst loading recommendations using refinery process data, modeling tools, and internal subject matter expertise.
- Managing performance guarantee processes—including data analysis, performance verification, and alignment with commercial and marketing teams.
- Providing onsite technical support, troubleshooting catalyst-related issues, and supporting turnarounds, startups, and performance reviews.
- Monitoring catalyst health and performance trends, identifying improvement opportunities, and driving continuous value creation for customer accounts.
- Participating in conferences, seminars, and industry forums to represent BASF, track industry developments, and gather competitive insights.
- Driving opportunity management internally, including lead generation, qualification, solution development, and input into innovation projects that align with customer needs.
- Collaborating across BASF business units to deliver integrated solutions where cross-divisional expertise enhances customer outcomes.
Requirements
- A Bachelor’s degree or higher in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or a related technical field.
- 5+ years of technical experience in refining, petrochemicals, or related catalyst/process technology roles.
- Customer-facing experience (2+ years preferred), such as technical service, sales, or application engineering.
- Experience with refinery process modeling or simulation tools (e.g., Aspen HYSYS, Petro-SIM) and the ability to interpret operational data.
- Strong analytical skills, along with clear and compelling written and verbal communication abilities.
- Experience working in global, cross-functional teams and knowledge of catalysis or adsorption processes (a plus).
