About the role

  • The Processing Manager leads a team of full-time employees and contingent seasonal workers with a focus on safe and compliant operations, people development and operational excellence to ensure high-quality and timely processing of all pre-commercial and commercial seed inventories at the local vegetable seed processing facility.
  • Maintaining high performing staffing levels within department, requiring appraisal, training and development and career planning by using HR-instruments, guidelines, procedures and advice to select and retain competent employees and ensure an efficient and effective functioning department.
  • Planning, organizing and directing all functions of the assigned sub-department to ensure high-quality and timely execution of pre-commercial and commercial inventories.
  • Overseeing order fulfillment in line with established business requirements for quality and timeliness.
  • Managing business-related activities, including process improvement efforts, complaint resolution, and audit participation and execution of corrective actions.
  • Sub-Department focuses can include: Receiving & Warehousing, Cleaning & Conditioning, Treatment & Enhancement.

Requirements

  • Have a Bachelor’s Degree in an agricultural or related field preferred
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Possess 2-5 years of seed industry related experience
  • Previous experience in seed processing procedures and techniques, preferred
  • Have 3 years of experience in a supervisory position, preferred
  • Are proficient in Microsoft Office applications
  • Demonstrate good people management and interpersonal skills, displaying an ability to train and motivate personnel to balance staffing needs
  • Are able to work as a cross-functional team member at various peak times with energy to complete assigned goals
  • Possess strong analytical and reasoning skills
  • Demonstrate good communication skills both written and verbal in English, Spanish a plus.
  • Are able to travel up to 5%, domestically and possibly internationally, as well.
