About the role
- Responsible for the development and implementation of strategies to achieve U.S. registration of pesticide products and representing BASF in regulatory-related industry meetings/committees.
- Independently manage regulatory projects and lead development and implementation of strategies required to obtain, defend, and maintain active ingredient and product registrations.
- Create regulatory dossier submissions for U.S. EPA and international regulatory authorities according to globally harmonized guidelines, and provide regulatory support to internal technical and business teams, company customers, and sub-registrants.
- Engage in EPA regulatory activities through interactions with industry and agency associations, present convincing arguments to regulatory authorities for timely registrations, and negotiate with internal groups on regulatory strategies.
- Lead cross-functional project teams to develop data supporting North American registration of pesticidal products, coordinate activities for new active ingredients, plan new end-use products, and re-register/expand existing registrations.
- Advise APN business teams on regulatory issues impacting company sales and profit and explore alternative regulatory strategies.
- Work closely with different business units, contribute to projects of moderate complexity, and lead teams where principles and guidelines are broadly defined.
Requirements
- MS/PhD in an agricultural field or related scientific discipline with 12+ years of experience in the pesticide industry, including a minimum of 8 years in pesticide registration and/or regulatory affairs; or a BA/BS degree in agriculture or a related scientific discipline with 15+ years of experience in the pesticide industry, including a minimum of 10 years in pesticide registration and/or regulatory affairs.
- Comprehensive working knowledge of FIFRA, with a proven track record of successfully registering complex pesticide active ingredients.
- Developed regulatory strategies to obtain, maintain, and defend active ingredient and product registrations with federal and state regulatory authorities.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and actively participate in multi-company task forces and industry trade association committees.
- Proven effective and influential communication and negotiation skills at all levels and audiences, both internally and externally with regulatory authorities and NGOs.
- Ability to travel up to 10%, mostly domestically.
